Afterschool Farm Enrichment Program
This afterschool Enrichment program is designed to allow children to learn about horses and other farm animals in a fun atmosphere while also learning about themselves. The program runs for 2 hours one day per week. The children will learn how to handle a horse as well as learn to groom and care for the horse. They will learn all aspects of horse care and behavior .They will also learn about other farm animals which may include llamas, goats, chickens, ducks etc. This is a hands on program where the children work directly with the animals and are hands on in all the projects which will also include learning how to grow their own organic vegetables and organic gardening for the spring session. We will enjoy a craft project in the fall sessions when the gardening season is over. In the process, the children learn about themselves as well as valuable lessons on life, responsibility, compassion, commitment, and communicating with others (both verbally and through body language).
While this program will benefit ALL children who have a love for animals, it is particularly beneficial for children who are shy, lonely, have difficulties in school or with peers.
